Alene was born and raised in Pueblo, Colorado. She attended CSU where she met her husband, Rod. He was a forestry major so they spent many years living in the mountains. Their first summer married was on Twin Sisters mountain at 11,400 feet, above Estes Park, Colorado, as fire lookouts.
After moving back to Fort Collins in 1975, Alene became a realtor. When retiring after 32+ years she decided to study her favorite medium, watercolor. Diane Perry, her first instructor, is the reason she continued on her watercolor journey. She has added pastel and alcohol ink to her favorites. Having no art experience until retiring it's been quite a challenge but one she loves. So far she has received two honorable mentions and sold several paintings and many greeting cards made from original paintings.
A few years ago, Alene organized Windsor Lake Artists, an enthusiastic group of artists who enjoy painting together. Many are excellent, well-known artists who are willing to give new artists like Alene guidance when needed. They have attended numerous art shows.
Alene's paintings are on display at Sanderosa Art Gallery in LaPorte, CO, Manwieler Appliance Art Gallery in Windsor CO, Clearview Library in Windsor, CO, Lilac and Sage Studio in Loveland, CO, and cards at Windsor Lake Coffee Shop.
